Honestly, I think this title will be one of those sleeper games. The year of indie games is definitely on its way to becoming the forefront of success. Although, this might look like a Street Fighter game on the surface, I can definitely appreciate its differences.

I remember watching earlier footage of this joint, and didn?t know the direction it could possibly go into, but this little story trailer is not bad at all. The story is set in Canopy Kingdom, characters are fighting for the opportunity to control the mysterious Skull Heart, an artifact with the ability to grant wishes, albeit at a substantial cost. The Skullgirl is a monster that haunts humanity: the result of those with an impure soul attempting to use the Heart.

What I really love about this game is it has a very comic book/anime look to it. It has a certain style on to its own, that separates itself from other 2D fighting games. Vibrant backgrounds, a great kind of classy/detective/gun slinging soundtrack, and a hint of sexyness makes this game fit a very sensual bill. It?s an awesome look into some very unique looking fighting game styling.

Also, what separates this from other fighting games is the infinite loop detection. Games such as the crossover series or other fighters have you perform loops upon loops. This one actually lets the opponent cancel the loop at a certain point. It forces you to basically be creative with your combos, so you aren?t being repetitive. This definitely brings an interesting nuance to the title.

Without further ado, check out this cool story mode trailer from Skullgirls.
